Hi My Dad (77yrs) has lung cancer, the tumor has collapsed his right lung. We were informed yesterday that it has spread to his liver and also to his lungs. He also suffers from emphysema. He has had one session of chemo the 2nd session has been delayed as his white count was high, being sick a lot and dehydrated. Our Doctor said that the chemo may not be continued. My Dad is in hospital at the moment, has lost 10lb in three weeks and looks very frail. Could you give us any idea of life expectancy?
Goodevening. Your father is suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. Because of infection the chemotherapy is currently not possible. Once his condition is stabilised and chemotherapy is started again, he can survive upto 12 to 15 months. However if chemotherapy can not be given then his survival wil be only upto 2 to 3 months. I appreciate your concern. Regards
Hello Lung cancer spreading to liver is stage 4. Stage 4 cancers usually do not have a favorable prognosis. If perhaps his general condition is good, he may be tried on some palliative chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Then his survival would depend on his response. All the best for your father
