What Is The Timeline For Recovery From Skin Graft Surgery?

Hi Doctor, my son is 1 yrs old and is undergoing skin graft surgery to his forearm. His arm was unfortunetly burned by a steam iron by accident. The surgoen says they are full thinkness burns. Im really scared for him as he is still very young. Will he recover from this and will the scars heal by time?

Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I completely understand your concerns but don't worry. Skin grafting can heal up full thickness burns with good success rate. The scarring will improve with age but it will not completely go off. During this period, full asepsis should be followed

Hopefully this will help you.
Take care
