What Is The Treatment For A Ruptured Eardrum Caused From An Ear Infection?

Hello, My 8 month old has had a ruptured ear drum from an ear infection. He was on antibiotic for 5 days and became very ill again and stopped eating and drinking, the doctor put him back on a different antibiotic saying that he had a resistant strain and he started to get better. He had about 5 days of feeling good and has now relapsed and is running an even higher temp. He doesnt want to drink and the er doctor said that he has a viral infection and to let it run its course. He was better now he is sick again and I feel helpless. I dont know what to do for him. An suggestions or ideas for me. Thank you.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hi
pls take care that his surroundings are clean .
touching the child with untidy hands aggregates his infection
do not allow water to enter his ear.
keep the ear dry always .
in children if the ear is dry for 3 months , the perforated membrane can heal by itself
