What Is The Treatment For Blockage In Carotid Arteries?

I have had for years a pounding in my neck (worse on the left) after a couple of strong drinks. This becomes even more noticeable if I lay down and often to the point I can't go to sleep. The problem has gotten worse recently. I have had the sonogram done on my cardioid arteries which indicates minimal blockage. Without the drinks I don't experience the problem. Is the vagal nerve/alcohol a logical explanation? Any treatment thoughts?
Thank you, Bear

Yes that could be a logical explanation due to stimulation caused by the alcohol your nerves are getting irritated and cause the pain and pounding. If you have come to know that without alcohol it does not occur, then maybe you should quit and look for other better ways of using that time with friends or otherwise. Carotid artery blockage does not usually lead to these symptoms however, it can lead to transient severe headache. But treatment for Carotid artery blockage is advised only if the block is more than 50%. Take care and let me know if you have any residual queries. Take care.
