What Is The Treatment For Bright Red Blood And Crusty Scabs After Blowing The Nose?

I am on accutane and every time I blow my nose for the past three weeks it s just been bright red blood or bloody crusty scabs. I ve been trying to moisturizer the inside of my nose with a nasal spray but it doesn t appear to be helping. Is there anything I can do to stop it or is it nothing to worry about?

Hello dear,
Relax.On going through your history, it seems you do not have a serious situation and I'll try my best to help you out of it.

The medication you are taking ( Accutane) has got a defined side effect, i.e. Dryness in nose. This leads to development of crusts inside the nasal cavity. Also the blood vessel of nose lye just close to the lining epithelium and dryness of the epithelium produces creaks in it which make the blood vessel vulnerable to get ruptured.

In my clinic I advise my patient like you to irrigate the nose with saline nasal spray ( Physiomer/ Aqwet saline spray), which is to keep the nose moist. In addition to it i suggest them to use any gel/cream with ALOE VERA which will fasten the healing process.
