Hi Sir !

I am male, 22 years from India !
I have been Selected for Indian Army but i have been rejected in view of Cardiac Murmur (causing by Mitral Valve Prolapse). Sir i want to know about the severity and whether i am permanently unfit for armed forces. I have done Echocardiography test and the results shown everything normal except the MVP.

Hi,

Since you have a murmur then it must of moderate severity at least and this condition is permanent, only treatment is valve replacement. This will be done when it's become severe and you become symptomatic. So will probably remains unfit for army. You should get regular Echo done to monitor the condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
