What Is The Treatment For Chronic Allergic Rhinitis?

I used my finger and scratched with nail from itching, removed some wax with nail, hearing got worse, got syringed last week, wax is clear now, but one week later which is now, it's still not that much better, so I pinched my nose yesterday really hard and blew to pop my eustachian tubes repeatedly doing it very hard and that made it worse, I have lots of clicking mostly in the left ear. I am living with tinnitus and I have chronic allergic rhinitis. I know I shouldn't of done the actions I have done, but I got frustrated and I am now anxious, stressed, depressed and not eating.

Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. If you have long standing allergic rhinitis with nose obstruction and involvement of ear, I usually suggest my such patients regular intranasal corticosteroids and steam inhalation.

2. I would also suggest you allergy testing for common air-borne allergens such as house dust mites, molds, pollens, insect proteins, animal dander, etc. This will help you identify the substances causing allergies to you as well as to know the measures to avoid them.

3. Based on allergy testing, an Allergist-Immunologist may prescribe you allergen specific immunotherapy which gradually works on immune system to reduce allergy symptoms over a long run.

4. However, please note that ear symptoms may or may not improve with treatment of rhinitis, it depends on the extent of ear damage; an ENT specialist is the best person to help you regarding this.

5. I would suggest you not to get stressed as with care and patience, improvement is always possible. Allergic rhinitis is a chronic disorder which require a lot of patience, understanding and care from patient's side.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
