Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. As this headache is progressively increasing in frequency and band like, it could be due to
: tension headache
: intracranial lesion
- Tension headache is more likely if he is actively studying, headache is occurring after it, not much relief with pain killer, present even after sleep, not associated with vomiting/blurred vision/altered consciousness.
For relief, you can ask him to take rest, if possible to take small vacation, painkiller like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription, complete 8 hours sleep, avoid bright light.
- Intracranial lesion headache usually presents with progressively increasing headache, dull aching, may be associated with vomiting/focal deficit/fits/blurred vision/altered behaviour, more in morning time, with cough/sneeze.
It is a semi-emergency condition. You need to
consult doctor as soon as possible. He might advise you imaging like CT/
MRI head after clinical examination. Further management will be decided after Imaging report.
Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
