my mother in law is diabetic for last 18 years. now she is suffering with ulcer in mouth, several hematoma in feet for last 1 and a half month. she is on antibiotics for last 1 month. still new hematoma are developing in the feet. what is the reason for this and what treatment should i follow
These could be ecchymotic patches due to coagulation abnormalities. Do get her Coagulation profile done - its a blood test as well as a liver function test. This will give a clear idea as to why the bruising is occurring and of prime importance is tight Blood sugar control so that her sugar levels are always within the prescribed range - by oral medications or by Insulin injections.
