What Is The Treatment For Lipoma In The Corpus Callosum?
My son was diagnosed with a lipoma in the corpus callosum five years ago. He's almost twenty now. I think in the back of his mind he worries about it. Would it be wise to have this rechecked or is there anything I can do or say to relieve his anxiety?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Lipoma is a benign lesion, grows very slowly and does not metastasis to distant site. The lesion is not dangerous but its site is very sensitive. Compression of adjoining brain tissue can lead to neurological disturbance. However, development of any complication or not depends on the location of the lesion. A contrast CT of the brain will be re-assuring for your son and you so it is advisable to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment and contrast CT of the brain to determine the site of lesion and its relation with adjoining structures.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
