Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Now you are suffering from
chronic diarrhea.
There are various causes for chronic diarrhoea. Some common causes are
1. Irritable bowel syndrome
2 . Chronic
intestinal inflammation (
ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease)
3 . Chronic
pancreatitis, which produces fatty stools
4. Laxatives
5. Lactose intolerance
6. Improper diet (consumption of too much alcohol, coffee or sweets)
7. Metabolic disorders such as diabetes and thyrotoxicosis
8. Intolerance to gluten (wheat protein).
To identify the cause of chronic diarrhoea. Please do the following investigations
1. Stool for culture and sensitivity and examination for ova, cysts and parasites
2. Full Blood Count: anaemia or raised
platelet count suggesting inflammation.
3. Liver Function tests (LFTs), including albumin level.
4. Tests for malabsorption: calcium, vitamin B12 and red blood cell folate, iron studies (ferritin).
In addition to this, you may need colonoscopy and ultrasound abdomen and pelvis based on findings in physical examination.
Based on findings and diagnosis, treatment varies. If no cause is identified, codeine may helps.
