What Is The Treatment For Low Grade Fever And Ear Infection?

My 4 1/2 month old son just cut his first two teeth yesterday. He s been running a low grade fever (99-101) but I took him to the er today because he was kind of glassy eyed and lathargic. He was diagnosed with an ear infection and prescribed amoxicillin. He s had one dose. When he woke from his nap after the dose and a bottle, his eye was crusted over. I called the ER and was told it was all part of the infection - should clear within 72 hours. My question is after his nightime bottle, he projectile vomitted the entire thing. He s now sleeping, but I know he ll wake up in the middle of the night hungry! Should I be concerned about a reaction to the antibiotic? Or could it be that he just doesn t feel good?

Hello,

Yes antibiotics may cause gastric irritation. If he is vomiting immediately means you have to one more dose of antibiotic. Use vomikind syrp then give antibiotic then he won't vomit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
