Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my wife was diagnosed for rhematoid arthritis in 2003, prescribed folitrax 15 mg/weekly and lefra daily dose for 4 years. Subsequently diagnosed by a leading rheumatologist to be free of rhematoid arthritis but suffering from fibromyalgia and adivsed pregabaline and tryptomer, which medicine was taken for two years. Subsequently as my wife started complaining pain in her hands predominantly and also in her shoulder area the earlier doctor was contacted who advised that the diagnosis of the leading rheumatologist was wrong as it was done when the patient was also on dose of folitrax/lefra and my wife indeed is suffering from Rhematoid arthiritis, and has prescribed folitrax 15mg /weekly + HCQS 200 mg daily+ pregabaline 150mg + tryptomer 25 mg+ Cipcal and ultracet/medrol16mg on sos as per need. There is no perceptable deformation in her fingers etc. neither she is RA positive although her ANA is positive. Now my query is, is she really suffering from RA or only a patient of FM and further whether the continued prescription of folitrax/HCQS in such an eventuality do any harm to her?
