I have had a sore throat from a standard cold for a few voice. I am a singing teacher and walked away from a session with a very sore throat. Normally if I strain my voice it's hoarse and sore to sing. Now it's different: severe throat pain. Hurts to swallow. Yawn. One side worse than the other. Voice is still clear with singing eg. It is leading to upper respiratory tract infection. As your voice getting hoarse means infection has spread till larynx and leading to laryngitis. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozanges one every 4 hours is helpful. Drink luke warm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. Take ibuprofen one tablet twice daily. Milk boiled with a pinch of turmeric taken at bedtime for can be relieving as it has antimicrobial properties. You should avoid spicy food.
