What Is The Treatment For Social Phobia And Panic Attacks In Case Of A Recovering Drug Addict?

hello doctor I am going to be honest, I am a recovering addict and I have taken Subutex for it for the past 5 yeara. my primary care give me Ritalin 20mg IR 3 times daily morning, noon, and night. I also receive alprazolam 1mg 3 times daily as needed or morning noon and night as well. I have received alprazolam 1mg 3 times a day since I was 15. I feel that I need to start taking 2mg and start say art 60ct 2mg 3 times a day as the 1mg is starting to have an effect that has leveled out and am starting to see the signs of social phobia and panic attacks have set back in. I should get her to start me at the 60 2mg dose because of the effect stopping but me obviously needing to take it. It I weird because its not an addiction making me ask, opiates were what I was addicted to but it has plateaued. What do you thing I should say and do......regards, David Adams

Hi,

Congrats on your decision to get out of addiction!

As for Panic and Social Phobia, a combination of medication and psychotherapy would be helpful. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a special form of psychotherapy which would help you deal with your fears and anxiety in a scientific manner. these methods also equip you with strategies to deal with your problems on your own. Kindly consult a trained Clinical Psychologist.

Abdul
