My husband and I had unprotected sex (more than once) on and around the time I would have ovulated. Before I got my period I wound up getting strep throat and had to be put on clindamycin. I still have another days dose worth to take and my period is late. Is this a side effect of the drug or might I be pregnant?
The simple solution is to go for UPT that is urinary pregnancy test after 5 and 10 days of missed periods. Also, to get the throat swab and blood tests and may be change over to another medicines like antibiotic, take anti-inflammatory medicine. Povidone iodine gargles. Plenty of oral fluids. Clindamycin is not known to cause delayed periods. The most important is whether to continue pregnancy if you have taken medicines during early pregnancy has to be decided by your Obstetrician. Go by her direction. Get well treated till cure for throat problems.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
