What Is The Yellow Liquid Forming Around The Staples After ACL Reconstruction?

Hi, I had an ACL reconstruction 9 days ago and have noticed a yellow liquid forming around 2 of the staples. The skin is a little pinker around those staples than the others (32 in total). Could this be normal seepage or should I get myself down to the hospital and checked out for infection?

Hello,

As this is sometimes common as the body will remove the excess fluid which will be yellowish in Color. Usually post op the surgeon will provide you antibiotics before hand to avoid any kind of infection.

Still if you have a doubt a simple blood routine will help us understand if its infection. So antibiotics will be guided accordingly.

Post-op of ACL reconstruction most cases are undergoing Physiotherapy so they get the maximum outcome score out of the procedure.

In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most ACL reconstruction cases have been fit enough now to play the sports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
