What Kind Of A Doctor Should I See For Shooting Electric Pain In Knee?
I got this sharp electric pain in my left knee maybe four months ago and I went to my family doctor. He gave me a pain killer, Norco, which didn't take the pain away so I didn't take the pills, but eventually the pain stopped. Now the pain is back again. It's shooting electric pain that pulsates. What kind if doctor should I see?
I am sorry to hear about this shooting electric pain. Your primary care doctor is the best person to start with. Get back to him and he would evaluate the treatment and make adjustments accordingly. At least he would have known that the other treatment didn't help and would try some other drud or refer you to a specialist if he thinks it is beyond his expertise. The description of this pain makes is suggestive of a neuropathic pain and management requires a different class of drugs different fro the classical pain medications. If you must see a specialist, the a neurologist or rheumatologist would make a good choice.
I hope this helps. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more questions and clarification if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
