Which Pain Medicine Should Be Taken In Place Of Lorcet?

Hello. I was taking Lorcet 10/650 and have been changed to Norco 10mg. The Norco is not working for me. It doesn t help the pain as much and it has given me really bad heartburn. I was wondering what other medicine I could take that would be closer to the Lorcet. I was told that the doctors and pharmacies are no longer filling the Lorcet and have swithched to Norco. What other pain medicine is available that would work, or be available to me.

Lorcet and Norco are the same drug- hydrocodone combined with Tylenol. If you have been taking the Lorcet regularly for a while, your body may have developed a tolerance to the hydrocodone and that's why it doesn't seem to help as much. If you develop a tolerance, doses have to be increased to achieve the same effect. This can lead to serious problems like addiction. I'm not sure why you should suddenly be getting heartburn, unless there is another (inactive) substance in the new pill that you are sensitive to. You could ask for another generic formulation that may not contain that ingredient. Lorcet is a brand name and most pharmacies will substitute a generic (which is Norco or other names) unless the doctor specifically writes "Dispense as written" on the prescription. Vicodin is another brand name hydrocodone-Tylenol combination you can ask for, but the pharmacy is likely to substitute the generic unless the doctor specifically requests it or you are willing to pay the increased price for the brand name. Hope this answers your question.
