Hi, my granddaughter, 26 months old, was diagnosed a with celiac disease a week ago. Her primary symptom that I am concerned about is her vomiting which has been happening on the average of 2 to 3 times a day for the last 3 to 4 weeks. We started her on a gluten free diet since four days ago. She is still vomiting, just once today, her behavior has been less irritable. I know it takes time for this gluten free diet to clean the system. I am concerned, could this be something else? Something more serious that we should be looking at? Her doctor said to verify that this is the actual diagnose we would need to get a biopsy of her small intestine. My daughter is calling her doctor tomorrow to try and schedule one ASAP. She also has been having bouts of ear infections, doctor at first that her vomiting might be happening because of the ear infection, but did further lab work and found in her blood test that she had a high count of (I m not sure about this) but I think it was PTT count??? She is scheduled to have tubes in her ear in about a month. Nevertheless, I am so scared that this could be worst than celiac disease. I understand that this disease is manageable, but it doesn t seem like it is working fast enough. Does it take some time for her gluten-free diet to work. Will her vomiting lessen. I appreciate any information you can give me to put my mind at ease. Thank you, JM
