Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a man of age 27. From my childhood I have an attraction toward female attire. In childhood and in starting of my teen age , this attraction was not so intense as it is now. Toward the end of teenage and after that age I am having an extreme desire to be a woman. Now day and night the desire is increasing double and triple .only desire is not there , I am cross dressing now hidingly .Can you suggest me any valuable suggestion.
Hi. I've gone through the history given in your query and I am of the opinion that you seem to be suffering from a psychological disorder called transvestism or cross-dressing.
Since your desire of getting attracted towards female clothes is increasing day by day causing distress, I therefore advise you to consult a psychologist/psychiatrist for further evaluation and treatment which may involve psychotherapy or behavior modifications.
Psychotherapy, when needed, is focused on helping people accept themselves and control behaviors that could cause problems.
Remember there is no effective medication to prevent or treat this disorder.
Hope to have answered your query.
Best wishes.
