Hi my son is 16 years old. He is complaining of severe gastric pain. His grandmother took him to hospital where they gave him IV Buscopan and perscribed Topzole 40mg once daily and Buscopan CO 2 tablets three times daily. The doctor diagnose him with gastritis that was yesterday. So he took his first dosis of Topzole yesterday and one this morning. He is still complaining of gastric pain. Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your son and understood your concerns.
Gastritis in a 16 year is not common and has pain not relieved by Buscopan and Topzole 40.
Hence I would advise him the following:
Topzole can be repeated but may not be that effective.
Antibiotics have role only if there is any evidence of infection by means of clinical presentation of diarrhea, fever, chills or so on.
Antacid liquid every three hours.
Domperidone at 8 hourly interval.
Buscopan if there is pain.
If there is no relief, it is necessary to have further evaluation by an Upper GI Endoscopy and other tests to get a proper diagnosis and management.
Soft bland diet.
Further investigations like CT scan and others of stool, blood and urine as needed to help in diagnosis.
