What Medications Can Cause Cystitis Or Bladder Pain And Pressure?
What medications can cause cystitis, or bladder pain and pressure? Patient had knee replacement surgery on Wednesday and was on IVs until yesterday; bladder pain started this morning. Urinalysis was conducted at noon today but was negative for urinary tract infection. Patient is in nursing facility today but staff there seems unable to do anything about it except to give her a dose of Vicodin.
None of.drugs other than chemotherapeutic drugs cause bladder cystitis. The cystitis could be related to bladder catheterization done during knee replacement surgery. The urine report may be normal but may have symptoms because of urethral or bladder irritation. Drinking plenty of oral fluids and tablet Phenazopyridium may provide the much needed relief.
Wishing you healthy life
Take care
