What Post Surgical Care Does A Shoulder Replacement Require?

I am schedule for a complete shoulder replacement the end of July (appx.) I am 75 years old and had many joint replacements already. My question is what do I need to know about post surgery...how much care basically. My surgeon told me I would have exercises to do at home the first two weks. followed by 6 to 10 wks. of Physical Therapy. I don t know about the incision care, how much I will be able to do, etc. sorry this is so long!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You have to physiotherapy for two to three months to gain complete mobility and a full range of motion. The surgical incision requires standard care and topical antibiotics. The wound will heal in a couple of weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
