First of all,
Dry Socket is an infection that develops during process of socket healing, if blood clot is lost or disintegrated , to avoid that
use the other side of the mouth to chew and to have some soft and warm diets only for few days. don't have hot and spicy foods. also avoid frequent spitting after extraction (main reason for dry socket)
also,
1. for the initial one or two days, gargle with
cold water everytime you have food or atleast twice daily
2. after that you must use either a mouthwash (chlorhexidine/
betadine) or warm saline rinse for another week
3. kindly don't engage into habits of smoking/ tobaccoo chewing atleast for a couple of days.
most importantly, take medications on time as prescribed and BUSH YOUR TEETH after extraction, if if it hurts little bit.
even if DRY SOCKET IS THERE, you can ask the
dentist to pack Zinc-oxide-eugenol pack mixed with an antibiotic (
clindamycin). definitely, it will be treated within 3/4 days
