What Should An Infant With Stomach Infection And Vomiting Be Fed? How To Improve His Eating Habits?

Hello doctor,

My son have stomach infection and is vomiting since yesterday. Doctor has given him Emeset for vomitting and Cyclopam for stomach pain. He has some releif in vomit but he is getting fever in small intervals and is not eating anything. I am breast feeding him and that's is his only intake in last two days.

I wanted to know two nthings:-

1). What should i give him to eat and when should i start giving him normal food.
2). How to improve his eating habits as he doesn't seem to be interested in any food.

Thanks!

Regards
Neha

Pediatrician 's  Response
hello
infant with vomitting and fever ,shold be benifitted with amset and antibiotic like syp. amoxy cillin or syp septran. since having fever, might be dehydrated.if urine out put is lower than usual give ORS AND PARACETAMOL FOR FEVER. howmany month old is your child? if above 6 months you start weaning that means start with small amount of clear liquids orally. increase amount gradually and add another new thing after 1 week while continue with previous diet. after 2 months can give semi solids. again gradually and add new itoms in 6-7 days time so that by the age of one year he takes almost all which is taken by an adult.continue breast feeding also.top milk twice per day will be sufficient with this.
