What Should Normal Level Of SGOT And SGPT Be During Pregnancy?
Hi .. IlMy wife is in her 36th weeks and SGOT is 137.30 and SGPT is 226.20... What can be the consequences and what precautions should we take while we are getting treatment through the doctor..Anything serious that we should be worried of???.. Please advice...
First, should discuss with her doctor if she is experiencing any hepatitis while being pregnant.
High SGOT and SGPT are indicating an injured liver. That is not common for a normal pregnancy. Discuss with her caring doctor if she is having also pre/eclampsia problems or if she is suffering from HELLP, or acute fatty liver in pregnancy (AFLP). All of them are really serious medical conditions and require close medical evaluation and treatment.
Immediate consultation with a gastroenterologist and regular consultation with a gynecologist are highly recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
