What Time Next Should Tylenol Be Given To A Toddler For Fever, If Given On A Rotational Basis?

My 3 year old daughter is sick, I have been giving her 5ml Ibprofen every 5 hours as doctor sad.... and At 10:15pm I ran out & only had 2.5ml so i gave her that, and now 12:00 I gave her another 2.5ml since i had a chance to run to the store to get more, I bought tylenol too. I want to start rotation..Since i only gave her 2.5ml at 12:00am would it be okay to start tylenol at 1:00am? Fevers running between 104-102.. .

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
You just followed the wrong advise, this may be dangerous to the child, remember the quot " Fever is friend" Ibuprofen and acetaminophen is given to paediatric patients for fever only, only if and only when body temperature goes beyond the 100 F or 38 C then and then it has to be given after the cold sponging try and not without the trail of cold sponging or cold water bath may seems weird or horrible but that is ideal way, have nice day.

Pediatrician Dr. Sumeet Arora's  Response
Hi there,

Thank you for choosing healthcaremagic.

Tylenol can be given alternating with ibuprofen every 3-4 hrs.
But if you are giving only tylenol, then you not to keep a gap of 4-6 hours in between doses with a maximum of 5 doses in 24 hours.

Tylenol can be given at a dose of 10-15 milligrams per kilogram of weight at a time. So you can confirm the dose you are giving at one time.

Hope this has answered your query.

Best wishes.

Regards,
Dr. Sumeet.
