I have suffered with post nasal drip for quite a long time now. I have used nasal sprays and antihistamines but still it continues. After seeing a specialist who has looked into my nose with an endoscope and who said everything is normal I now have a decision to make. I am fed up with coughing all the time , having mucus drip down the back of my throat and having choking sessions at night plus its embarrassing having to clear your throat constantly. He told me he was going to discharge me as there was no further treatment available but when pressed he agreed to do a turbinate reduction even though mine are normal. I need to know if I should have this surgery in the hope it works or continue using nasal sprays to see if they eventually work.
If your turbinates are normal then they are not likely impacting on your symptoms and a reduction may not be effective in helping to reduce your symptoms.
You may want to consider allergy testing to see if there is a particular allergen that is causing your symptoms. If it can be identified and your exposure reduced then your symptoms may decrease.
You may also want to consider the use of singulair which may also help to reduce your symptoms.
I hope this helps
