What To Do For Sleep Disorder?

I m days from 79. Just got out of hospital. Good news heart as good as 2005 (one heart attack). Bad news, hospital did not deal with allergies, BPPV, breathlessness and dizziness that put me there. Cluster of problems including sleep apnea and diabetes seems beyond my GP. Am looking to change to a geriatric specialty. What do you think?

Hello:

The breathlessness, sleep apnea and allergies could be related. If you have allergic rhinitis, you may have hypertrophic nasal turbinates. That could be causing you airway obstruction and therefore, obstructive sleep apnea. I suggest consulting with an Ear, throat and nose doctor to assess all these problems, including the vertigo. Maybe you will need some nasal steroid as mometasone, and an antihistaminic as loratadine, cetirizine or desloratadine.

For the rest of your problems (diabetes, heart disease), a geriatric specialist would be a good option for assessment and follow up.

I hope you get better, and if you have any doubt before your appointment, please let me know.
