Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
As per your query swelling at the back of the tongue seems to be
swollen tongue along with enlarged lingual papillae and also having enlarged circumvallate papillae and the symptoms are pointing towards Transient Lingual Pappilitis.
It can occur due to oral infections, burning with hot foods or chemicals,
acid reflux,
allergic reaction etc..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen[advil] or Naproxen[aleve].
Do cold compresses over the swollen area and if no possible suck ice pops.
If there is pain gargle with numbing mouthwash.
Take
multivitamin supplements.
Take a soft diet and avoid hot and spicy food.
If you have acid reflux antacids can provide relief.
Gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl and
milk of magnesia..
In case if there is no improvement in 1 week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards..
