What To Do If Feeling A Knot In The Middle Of Sternum, Burping And Having Hiccups While Taking Omeprazole?
I am taking Omeprazole sa 20mg daily for about 2 years. Over the past three days I have had what feels like a knot right in the middle of my sternum. I have had this before and it has always been gas, I would take some malox and it would go away. This time it is not. I am burping constantly and have hiccups. Just feeling a little concerned because this hasn't happened before, and lasted this long.
Hello, I can understand your concern about GI symptoms. 1) Your symptoms are suggestive of GERD which is due to reflux of acid into esophagus and produce irritation in inner wall of lower part of esophagus. 2) You must continue Omeprazole. 3) Also you must undergo upper GI endoscopy to check extent of involvement in esophagus. 4) Prokinetic medication (Ganaton) to accelerate movement of stomach helps to reduce reflux. 5) For quick relief you can take anti-acidity syrup also which has quick onset of action.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you. Have a nice day!
