What To Do If Toe Hurts And A Hole Is Formed After A Nail Went In?
I slipped in mud and there was a nail in there. It did not hurt at first but about 3or4 later it hurt bad I put Neosporin on.the hole is about a cm deep. It hurt when I walk. Half of my big toe hurts constantly. Should I visit a doctor or will in heel soon?
hello, You seem to have a piercing injury from a nail. Was the nail Old? In that case preferably take proper antiseptic precautions or treatment to avoid any infection. Make sure you have bandaged it properly to avoid any infection to go in. Neosporin might not always work as resistance has grown commonly to it. Try other antibiotic powder or creams. Taking tetanus injection is very important as old nails can lead on to further tetani infection. Take a pain killer like Diclofenac or aceoclofenac to reduce the pain preferably in nights as it will feel severe and can disturb sleep. You can take it twice daily. once in morning and once in night.
If you find it is not healing even after five days, and no crust has formed, and pus/ discharge is still present, do visit a doctor.
Hope i have answered your query. If you have any further questions, happy to help
