What To Do On Sudden Drainage Of Smelly Brownish Pink Thing After Ileoctomy In 1975 When Colon And Rectum Removed?

I have had an ileostomy since March 1975, large colon removed as well as rectum. Here lately am experiencing a lot of drainage in the drains they put in. I am not sure if this is normal or not, I have to wear a pad to keep from staining the clothes too much and keep odor down. It is a brownish pink in color. VA medical center did a scan and found no abcess I am chafing a lot and it is uncomfortable to sit. The VA did not follow up and did not seem concerned.

HI. The brownish pink discharge is definitely suggestive of an infection, may be associated with necrosis of some sort in some part. You have to bother about this. Clinical impression is more important many times than to go after investigations. You need a high broad spectrum antibiotics. Re-consult the Doctor
