What To Do When Potato Chip Is Stuck In Throat?
i swallowed a potato chip wrong and it is stuck at the base of my throat. Went to bed shortly after and a fe hours later it woke me up due to pain. Hurts to swallow and increase in saliva. Tried drinking hot tea-no pain reduction. I believe the chip is stuck and causing blockage. I can burp but cannot dislodge food.

Hi dear ,
As per your query you have pain and swelling in throat after you wrongly swallowed chips . Sometimes there is actually nothing stuck in the throat but person get the feeling of something been stuck because of swelling of mucosa or lining of throat . It could be possible that sharp edge of chips injured the lining of throat and made it swelled . It will take day or two to get normal . Do warm saline gargles several times a day . Avoid eating hot and acidic food . If condition doesn't get better in 24 hours or get worse the consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe medicine like sucralfate along with antibiotics .
