What To Pursue Background History Of Infectious Disease. What Career Should I Take With That?
Okay, this is more of a health career question than it is just a health question itself. Maybe you will be able to answer it. I want to go to college and study infectious disease . Biomedical warfare, the background history of it all, down to the last detail. Typhoid , Smallpox , Ebola . What career could I pursue with that?
** 1. because career in infectious disease is travel associated with tropical exposures along with diagnostic work, there is a constant evolution of diagnostic and therapeutic improvements. but the added dimension is that there are new pathogens emerging and old ones re-emerging so that, one never knows “what’s around the corner. 2. lately infection specialists have tended to focus on community acquired infections, and microbiologists more on the hospital acquired ones.
3. pursuing career in infectious disease has many advantages like: . covers all body system and has links to all specialties. . mostly conditions are curable or at least controllable. . different opportunities for exciting and interesting work in different settings. . you can/may combine clinical and academic work to suit your interests.
PS: As there will always be need of infection specialist, and so is infection related careers.
