Hello and welcome to HCM, Joint effusion occurs due to infection and inflammation. Infection can be bacterial, fungal or viral. Inflammation can occur due to infection or autoimmune disorders. The MRI of your ankle joint suggests inflammation of the synovium along with cellulitis or bacterial infection of the ankle joint. The medication that you have mentioned is used for rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder characterized by inflammation of the joints and surrounding structures and it is responsible for joint effusion. Management of rheumatoid arthritis will help to resolve the joint effusion.
