What Treatment To Be Taken For Migraine And Severe Pain?
I suffer from migraines and occassionally the pain is so severe I need to go to the ER. Yesterday my Dr said he could not give me anything more than Axert for them. He said if he gave me something stronger than Advil, I would just have a trigger effect. So he told me I would have to go to the ER if the pain was really bad. So I ended up going to the ER and had to wait 5 hours and they gave me tegretol injection for the pain. I am wondering if that is something I could ask my Dr for in pill a form so that I can take in extreme cases, or is there something else you could suggest?

You are having migrain that is severe enough and for that you are given almotriptan drug for that by first doc which is right ....
In migraine if no improvement from one dose for ex...Rizatriptan 5 mg tablet than dose can be repeat after 2 hour ....which can be given maximum 30 mg in a day ....
If repeated headache occurs better to start amitryptillin like prophylactic drug ....
Daily yoga and exercise useful.....
Avoid stress. ...
Avoid precipitating factors like ......
-smoking
-skipped meal
-loud noise
-bright light
-lack of sleep etc....
While headache rest in cool dark room...
Topical pippermint oil application or inhalation useful....
Consult physician if needed ...
