What Treatments Are Recommended For Headache And Nausea After A Head Injury?
A crock pot lid fell on my head from an arms length away. I was nauseous and feeling drunk for a couple hours after and I have a dent in my head where it hit. My nose was also leaking for a bit after and not sure if that has anything to do with it. I went to the hospital and they gave me info on concussions and Tylenol for my headache and sent me home. I never saw a doctor. Should I worry about this at all?
There are certain criteria called the new orleans criteria , that are used to determine whether a CT scan is necessary after a perceived mild head injury. These criteria state that a CT is necessary if one or more of the following are present:
(1) headache (2) vomiting (3) over than 60 (4) drug or alcohol intoxication (5) seizures (6) persistent short term memory loss (7) visible signs of trauma in any area above the clavicle
If any of these are present, a CT scan is recommended. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should be reviewed by a doctor.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
