What Type Of Skin Cancer Reveals A Dime Sized Growth With Edges Around The Growth Raised ?
My sister just had a dime sized growth on her back removed, and it is thought to be cancerous. She discovered it first in August and thought it was a cyst, but went to the dermatologist and had it removed and subsequently biopsied. It was about penny sized, raised on her skin, and the attachment to the skin was dime sized. The edges around the growth were slightly raised. She is waiting on her test results. Could you offer any insight into what type of skin cancer this may likely be? This doesn't seem to fit the textbook definitions I have read about.
Hi! Welcome to HCM! Penny size raised growth is not necessarily malignant.raised edges can be seen in a malignant or benign lesion.Pigmented lesions that appear suspicious can be evaluated by asymmetry, border irregularity, color variation and diameter 6 mm or greater. Two other suspicious signs are more rapid growth than other lesions and the presence of a narrow pink halo around the lesion. Dont worry let the biopsy results come there are greater chances of it being benign.Take care!
