What Was The Crack Sound From My Knee When I Attempt Walking?

Hi I am a 49 year old female who as a child I dislocated my left knee. Over the last 20 years I have had pain in my knee with x-rays showing nothing. I go to the gym and stay fit but have recently been diagnosed with a bakers cyst on the back and side of this knee. I have been resting for the last six weeks and it has improved with only minimal pain now. I got up from the chair four days ago and my knee cracked really loudly. Since then my knee seems to crack when I walk at least two steps out of five. It is not painful just feels uncomfortable and loud. Should I do something about this or will it go away with continuous rest. I am looking forward to going back to the gym soon.
Thanks Leah

Hi,
Baker's cyst and cracking r 2 different things.

1) Baker's cyst is mostly associated with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Rest with physiotherapy should help.

2) Cracking without pain should be ignored ---it may be due tendon rubbing against the bone or even due to osteoarthritis.
THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IT.
