Hi,
First of all please take an x ray of the ankle to see as to how bad the fracture is/was and as to whether there is also any associated complication secondary to untreated fracture like Non union or malunion or Osteoarthritis.

If there are no associated complications, then the fracture can still be fixed and should be fixed to maintain Ankle mortice ( to prevent osteoarthritis )

If the fracture is uniting in an acceptable position , then pls leave it alone with non weight bearing till union.

Please , first do take an x ray and do not be careless since this is a weight bearing joint and any problem here will cause long term pain which will make life very difficult.
