What's Causing Burning Sensation In The Skin Of Leg Of A 90 Year Old Diabetic Patient Who Has Chronic Blood Clot In Groin Area?
90 year old male with swollen and red leg has undergone multiple tests for heart function and infection including removing a swollen lymph node for biopsy. Two separate Ultra-sound tests did not find any blood clots other than one chronic blood clot that is in his groin area on the leg. It is not being removed because of the risk involved. Patient is diabetic but the condition is under control with excellent blood sugar levels. He has no pain or discomfort other than episodes of a burning sensation on the skin of his left leg. Both legs were originally swollen and the skin redness covered both legs up to his navel. The right leg has returned to normal with no swelling or redness. All tests indicate everything is normal. Medical staff is stymied as to the cause of the problem. Individual has orthopedic leg wraps on but had been experiencing a burning sensation on the skin of the leg. Do you have any ideas what could possibly cause this problem?
HI Thank for asking to HCM I do not think that the clot is the cause of burning leg, looking to age and medical condition of patient, the possibility of diabetic neuropathy and myopathy are very likely, I think Hb1Ac test has to be done this could give clue about the pathological damages, elevation of limb would relive the burning sensation, take care and have nice day.
