Whats The Cause For Sore Throat Itchy Skin With Fever?
5 yr old developed fever and severe sort throat yesterday pm. very tired/achy this morning. rapid strep and influenza tests today were negative. this afternoon seemed more energetic. tonight has 2 large red, itchy patches of skin - feel warm but not raised, no obvious bumps - on neck and under arm. He has had these 2 patches appear one other time - I think in exact same locations. Any thoughts?

Rapid strep tests are not always accurate, so a culture would be recommended because symptoms are common to strep. Often skin reactions can be seen when young children spread saliva with hands in the mouth. Viruses often occur and reoccur in the same location. Viruses do not resond to antibiotics, but strep needs treatment.
