Wheezing, Vitamin D Deficiency Treated, Less Growth, Too Short. How To Ensure Normal Growth?
Hi, my son is 5.5 years old. he is regularly attacked by wheeze. During Jan 2013, Dr had said that he had Vitamin D deficiency, which was treated and tested again in June 2013 - he was normal. But i see that he is not growing like other kids. he seems to be too short and now his height is 112 cm. how do I ensure that he grows normally, and he has also lost weight - he is now 18 Kgs.
Being tall or short does not depend only on Vitamin D or calcium; the genes play a crucial role also.
At your son's age, try not to look at his height more than in his general health. So, try to work with his doctor to understand why he is having wheezing attacks, how to properly treat and prevent.
Furthermore, if the problem relies only on vitamin D deficiency, try to discuss with his doctor why this deficiency:
- is it hereditary?
- is it because of bad diet or no exposure to sun?
- or because of other internal medical problems.
So, as you may see, sit down and discuss with his doctor not only for his height, but about the causes of his problems and how to overcome them together with preventing future damages.
Hope it helped!
