When Can Ibuprofen Be Taken After Asprin Intake?

Hi. I m 56 and generally healthy. At 2 pm I took 2 aspirin, 325 mg each, for my flu symptoms, but it s only helped a little. My fever came down one point from 100.3 to 99.3. I now want to take ibuprofen to get rid of the headache and body aches, but don t know how soon I can take it. NEVER MIND! I DIDN T KNOW IT COST ANYTHING.

Hi & Welcome.
You can take it 6 hrs after the last dose of Aspirin.

Actually Aspirin taken in such doses not only helps in reducing fever but also headache and bodyache as well. Since despite of taking Aspirin your headache and body ache still persist you can take Ibuprofen at least 6 hrs after the last dose of the Aspirin.

Since these medications can cause acidity related stomach problems like gastritis, dyspepsia, etc you are advised to take Ibuprofen along with an acid suppressant like Ranitidine which can prevent the side effects of Ibuprofen involving the stomach.

Beside you are advised to consult a GP for proper clinical examination and to rule out secondary bacterial infection and to treat accordingly.
