When can you clean out the blood clots in your nose after sinus surgery? The Nettie Pot is just rinsing (just clear water) when i can feel the "snot blood clots" this makes me have to breathe out my mouth which leads to excessively dry mouth

You cam start alkaline nasal washes 48 - 72 hours after surgery. Use Normal Saline for the nasal washes as household salt contains anti-caking agents and high concentration of salt will also damage the delicate nasal mucosa. If the nasal clots and debris persists, go for a follow up to your surgeon for cleaning he nose with endoscopy and suction. These problems usually persist for up to four weeks post-op. Total healing of the internal surgical wounds can take up to six months depending upon the extent of surgery, though you may not feel any discomfort on the outside.

Hello, welcome to Healthcaremagic. Usually it is advised not to clean your nose for 48 to 72 hours after sinus surgery. After that you can clean it with distilled water or normal saline. In case you find it difficult to clean your nose or clots persist you must visit your doctor for clearing of nasal pathway with suction under medical guidance. Wish you good health.
