When My 31 Year Old Son Holds His Shoulders Back,

When my 31 year old son holds his shoulders back, he is noticing a round protrusion that seems hard, but it is round. He is 6'6'' tall and weighs 230 lbs. He says he noticed it a couple months ago, and when his pets jump on his chest, it is sore. I felt of it, and it feels round and hard, but you can see the round shape. He has lost a little weight. Could this be something he has always had, but is just noticing it?? Please advise. Thank you.

hi

welcome to health care magic,

the symptoms experienced by your son could be

(1)anterior shoulder dislocation ...the round protrusion is the head of humerus .

shoulder dislocation could be due to joint hyperlaxity.

your son has marfanoid habitus ,which predisposes to the problem

(2) Second possibilty is whether the muscles around his shoulder have become

thin and u r able to notice the bony prominence.

this is a muscle disorder known as facio scapulo humeral dystrophy

kindly consult the nearest physician for certain blood tests like creatine

kinase,radiographs of both shoulder jts.

hope u find this helpful
