When Should Femilon Be Taken?

Hi doctor, Is it necessary to start femilon tablets on first day of periods. My first day of periods is on august 31 but i started using femilon on August 11 and on eighth day ie august 18 me and my husband had intercourse for three days till today. I am still continuing femilon tablets. Yesterday i had an ipill too for extra contraception but today morning also we had sex. Is there any chances of pregnancy??? Should i take an ipill today and how long should i continue femilon tablets since my periods day is almost near.?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Femilon tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill. First pack has to be started from the first day of the periods. Second pack is to be taken from the 5th day of your menstrual cycle. It is advisable to use other methods of contraception during the first 2 weeks when you are using such oral contraceptives for the first time. Since you have taken emergency contraceptive pill (I-pill), kindly wait for withdrawal bleeding to take place. If you had intercourse again within 12 hours from the intake of I-pill, there is no indication to take another one. Withdrawal bleeding should take place by 3 to 5 days. From the day bleeding takes place, kindly start Femilon tablet. Use other modes of contraception like condoms and spermicidal agents in the first 2 weeks.
