When Should The Contraceptive Pills Be Started?

i just got my prescription for birth control. My period started on June 30th (Thursday) and ended with spotting on July 4th (Tuesday). My doctor had told me I could go ahead and start it today, but I am a bit nervous. The packet says to start on the first Sunday after my period starts which should have been July 3rd. Should I wait until my next period? Or just go ahead and start it today?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
Yes you have to start the pill from today means when your menstruation has been stopped and from the first day of your new cycle.
Do not wait for next period and stsrt from the period as your bleeding has been stopped.
Do regular on the same time preferably at bed time to prevent the side effects (Make habit to take pill by putting reminder in the mobile)
If you missed one tablet: take as early as possible or after 24 hour with the next day tablet
If you missed two tablet: take missed two tablet on the 3rd day with that tablet and use barrier contraception for next seven days.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
